November 12, 2017 Twenty-third Sunday after Pentecost

Collect for Twenty-Third Sunday After Pentecost:  O God, whose blessed Son came into the world that he might destroy the works of the devil and make us children of God and heirs of eternal life: Grant that, having this hope, we may purify ourselves as he is pure; that, when he comes again with power and great glory, we may be made like him in his eternal and glorious kingdom; where he lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.

Sunday School:  Sunday School is held each Sunday at 10:00 am in the downstairs classroom.  Sunday School is open to all children from Kindergarten to 5th grade.

Adult Discussion Group:  Beginning Sunday, October 22nd, the 9:00 am Adult Discussion Group will meet in the Chapel to begin an examination of the life of Jeremiah.  The book that will guide us will be “Run with the Horses” by Eugene H. Peterson.  Feel free to join us at any time.  While reading the book in advance may be beneficial, it is in no way a requirement for entering the discussion.  Contact Wayne Stratz at wstratz@gmail.com if you have any questions.

THE ADULT DISCUSSION GROUP WILL NOT BE HELD ON SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 12TH

Weekly Community Social Networking Event:  Every Monday from 2:00 pm to 3:00 pm, we hold a discussion group in St. Margaret’s Hall led by David Nejako.  This is open to anyone from the parish or the community who would like to join in a group to discuss different subjects.  The topic on Monday, November 13th will be “American Heroes”.  Anyone who would like to connect with others in a discussion group setting is invited.

Adult Bible Study:  The Vestry has elected to begin a weekly adult Bible study.  At the Vestry’s request, The Rev. Alan Broadhead will lead this study.  It will be held on Wednesday evenings at 7:00 pm.   All are welcome to attend.

Mardi Gras Parade Participation:  Holy Trinity will again this year be participating in the Lansdale Mardi Gras Parade on Saturday, November 18th.  A box will be in the Narthex to collect candy that we can distribute along the parade route—an excellent use for your left-over Halloween candy!  If you are interested in marching with us in the parade or in helping us decorate our wagon float, please see either Ray Medlin or Lorraine Flagg.

Annual Winter Coat Drive:  Again this year, Holy Trinity will be collecting used winter coats in good condition for donation.  This includes coats for men, women and children.  Some of the coats will be donated to Seamen’s Institute in Philadelphia, and the rest will be handed out in Lansdale at our Friday Sandwich Ministry.

Also, remember cat and dog food, both wet and dry, is also collected for needy families with pets.

Collect for All Saints’ Day:  Almighty God, you have knit together your elect in one communion and fellowship in the mystical body of your Son Christ our Lord: Give us grace so to follow your blessed saints in all virtuous and godly living, that we may come to those ineffable joys that you have prepared for those who truly love you; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who with you and the Holy Spirit lives and reigns, one God, in glory everlasting. Amen.

Sunday School:  Sunday School is held each Sunday at 10:00 am in the downstairs classroom.  Sunday School is open to all children from Kindergarten to 5th grade.

Collect for Pentecost 19:  Lord, we pray that your grace may always precede and follow us, that we may continually be given to good works; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen.

Sunday School:  Sunday School is held each Sunday at 10:00 am in the downstairs classroom.  Sunday School is open to all children from Kindergarten to 5th grade.

Church Parish Survey:  We emailed a survey on Friday, October 6th for all members and friends of Holy Trinity to fill out.  Hard copy of this survey is also available in the Narthex.  This survey is designed to help the Vestry better understand what types of services and what type of presentation of the liturgy parishioners desire, and what you think Holy Trinity needs to do to better meet the spiritual needs of the congregation and community.  Please take the time to complete the survey to help Vestry plan for the future of Holy Trinity.  Results will be shared with the congregation.  Please complete and return your survey by Sunday, October 15th.  If you have questions or need help with the survey, please contact any Vestry member.

Weekly Community Social Networking Event:  Every Monday from 2:00 pm to 3:00 pm, we hold a discussion group in St. Margaret’s Hall led by David Nejako.  This is open to anyone from the parish or the community who would like to join in a group to discuss different subjects.  The topic on Monday, October 16th will be “Second Amendment-the Right to Bear Arms and Gun Control”.  Anyone who would like to connect with others in a discussion group setting is invited.

Adult Bible Study:  The Vestry has elected to begin a weekly adult Bible study.  At the Vestry’s request, The Rev. Alan Broadhead will lead this study.  It will be held on Wednesday evenings at 7:00 pm  All are welcome to attend.

Chair Plaque Fundraiser:  Holy Trinity is selling engraved plaques for our sanctuary chair backs as a fundraiser.  Each plaque is 4” long X 1-1/2” high and  may be engraved with wording of your choice.  Each plaque costs $75.00.  Order forms for the plaques are available in the Narthex or through the Church Office.

Sunday School:  Sunday School is held each Sunday at 10:00 am in the downstairs classroom.  Sunday School is open to all children from Kindergarten to 5th grade.

Blessing of the Animals:  On Sunday, October 8th, at the 10:00 am service, we will perform the Blessing of the Animals.  If you wish your animal to be blessed, please bring either your live animal, or children may bring stuffed animals, to the service and Pastor Christina will perform the blessing.  All live animals must be on a leash or in a carrier.

Sunday School:  Sunday School is held each Sunday at 10:00 am in the downstairs classroom.  Sunday School is open to all children from Kindergarten to 5th grade.

Blessing of the Animals:  On Sunday, October 8that the 10:00 am service, we will perform the Blessing of the Animals.  If you wish your animal to be blessed, please bring either your live animal or children may bring stuffed animals to the service and Pastor Christina will perform the blessing.  All live animals must be on a leash or in a carrier.

Rummage Sale: On Saturday, October 7thwe will hold a Fall/Winter themed Rummage Sale as a fundraiser for the church.  You may begin gathering and bringing donated items to the church.  All items should be in good, resalable condition.  NO CLOTHING except Children’s from infant to size 2-3.

We will be accepting all season knickknacks, kitchen items, children’s toys, games and children’s books (NO adult books).  We will also accept indoor and outdoor furniture but must check with a committee member first.  NO NON-WORKING ELECTRONICS — this includes the clock radio where the radio works but the clock doesn’t!  NO TV’s, NO COMPUTERS.  All items will be collected in the designated basement room.  Any questions, please contact Caren Puschak-Craft at scraft9@comcast.net or 610-584-4414.  Please have all items for the sale at the church by noon on Friday, October 6th.

Forteniters:  Once again, Holy Trinity will be preserving a long tradition of providing dinner for Forteniters Club members on Thursday evening, September 28th.  Forteniters is a social club for folks who have been patients at Norristown State Hospital.  This year’s dinner will be at East Norriton Park.  Sign up in the narthex to provide food, attend the dinner or provide funds to purchase food.  Plan to join us for a rewarding and fun evening!

We will be accepting all season knickknacks, kitchen items, children’s toys, games and children’s books (NO adult books).  We will also accept indoor and outdoor furniture but must check with a committee member first.  NO NON-WORKING ELECTRONICS — this includes the clock radio where the radio works but the clock doesn’t!  NO TV’s, NO COMPUTERS.  All items will be collected in the designated basement room.  Any questions, please contact Caren Puschak-Craft at scraft9@comcast.net or 610-584-4414.  Please have all items for the sale at the church by noon on Friday, October 6th.

Collect for Pentecost 15:  O God, because without you we are not able to please you, mercifully grant that your Holy Spirit may in all things direct and rule our hearts; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen.

Sunday School:  Sunday School is held each Sunday at 10:00 am in the downstairs classroom.  Sunday School is open to all children from Kindergarten to 5th grade.

Weekly Community Social Networking Event:  Every Monday from 2:00 pm to 3:00 pm, we hold a discussion group in St. Margaret’s Hall led by David Nejako.  This is open to anyone from the parish or the community who would like to join in a group to discuss different subjects.  The topic on Monday, September 18th will be “Christian Persecutions”.  Anyone who would like to connect with others in a discussion group setting is invited.

Adult Bible Study:  The Vestry has elected to begin a weekly adult Bible study.  At the Vestry’s request, The Rev. Alan Broadhead will lead this study.  It will be held on Wednesday evenings at 7:00 pm  All are welcome to attend.

Chair Plaque Fundraiser:  Holy Trinity is selling engraved plaques for our sanctuary chair backs as a fundraiser.  Each plaque is 4” long X 1-1/2” high and  may be engraved with wording of your choice.  Each plaque costs $75.00.  Order forms for the plaques are available in the Narthex or through the Church Office.

Forteniters:  Once again, Holy Trinity will be preserving a long tradition of providing dinner for Forteniters Club members on Thursday evening, September 28th.  Forteniters is a social club for folks who have been patients at Norristown State Hospital.  This year’s dinner will be at East Norriton Park.  Sign up in the narthex to provide food, attend the dinner or provide funds to purchase food.  Plan to join us for a rewarding and fun evening!

Rummage Sale: On Saturday, October 7thwe will hold a Fall/Winter themed Rummage Sale as a fundraiser for the church.  You may begin gathering and bringing donated items to the church.  All items should be in good, resalable condition.  NO CLOTHING except Children’s from infant to size 2-3.

Sunday School:  Sunday School is held each Sunday at 10:00 am in the downstairs classroom.  Sunday School is open to all children from Kindergarten to 5th grade.

Monthly Question & Answer Session:  As a regular monthly feature, Pastor Christina will hold an informal question and answer session during Coffee Hour. This will be a regular feature at Coffee Hour the first week of every month. This is an opportunity for you to ask any questions you may have that Pastor Christina can answer for you.  Join in the discussion with your questions and listen to the answers from others’ questions.
