The Weekly Newsletter of Holy Trinity Episcopal Church
September 30, 2018 Nineteenth Sunday after Pentecost
Collect for Nineteenth Sunday after Pentecost: O God, you declare your almighty power chiefly in showing mercy and pity: Grant us the fullness of your grace, that we, running to obtain your promises, may become partakers of your heavenly treasure; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.
Reminder: We are back to our regular Sunday service start time of 10:00 am.
Contacting Father Bill: Father Bill will be in the office on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm. To schedule an appointment with him, please either contact the Church Office at 215-855-4431 or call Father Bill directly at 215-804-0863.
In case of a pastoral emergency, please contact Father Bill at 215-804-0863.
We Welcome Rev. Canon Betsy Ivey: On Sunday, October 7th, The Rev. Canon Betsy Ivey, Canon for Growth and Support, at the Diocese will be filling in for Father Bill at our 10:00 am service. Please give Betsy a warm welcome to Holy Trinity!
Blessing of the Animals: On Sunday, October 14th, at the 10:00 am service, we will perform the Blessing of the Animals. If you wish your animal to be blessed, please bring either your live animal or children may bring stuffed animals to the service and Father Bill will perform the blessing. All live animals must be on a leash or in a carrier.
Repairs to the Rectory: We are in the process of having much-needed repairs made to the Rectory. On September 19th, an asbestos remediation company removed some asbestos in the Rectory basement, following all PA state guidelines. This remediation process cost $2,025.00 and the basement is now clear of harmful asbestos. We paid for this service from our General Checking Account Operating Expense.
In October, Carney Plumbing, Heating & Cooling will be installing a new gas boiler, since the old one is not repairable and is not in code. The cost will be $13,349.00. This new boiler will vent through a pipe to the outside, avoiding the chimney which would need $3,000 in repairs to be safely used. The money for this installation will come from some Accrual accounts; specifically the money remaining in the Roof Repair accrual account, money in the Capital Improvement account with the remainder from our Savings Account. If you have questions on these repairs, please see Ray Medlin.
Roof Repair: Gomez General Contracting has completed the roof repair. On Wednesday, September 19th, Ray picked up the Diocese roof repair grant check in the amount of $30,000.00 at the Diocese offices. The total bill for the roof repair job totaled $35,600.00; with $30,000.00 paid by the Diocese grant and Holy Trinity paying $5,600.00 from our Roof Repair Accrual Account.
Forteniters: For over 40 years Holy Trinity has provided a dinner for the members of the Forteniters Club, a social club for men and women who were previously hospitalized at Norristown State Hospital. Many of these folks are not able to prepare nutritious meals for themselves, so the weekly meals provided by local churches and organizations are vitally important. Holy Trinity will be providing a meal on Thursday, October 4th at the Haws Methodist Church on Marshall Street in Norristown. Sign up in the narthex to provide food or assist in serving the dinner. Questions? Contact Pat Brownback 215-206-5849
Weekly Community Social Networking Event: Every Monday from 2:00 pm to 3:00 pm, we hold a discussion group led by David Nejako. This is open to anyone from the parish or the community who would like to join in a group to discuss different subjects. The topic for discussion on Monday, October 1st
is “George Armstrong Custer”. Anyone who would like to connect with others in a discussion group setting is invited.
Caring Committee: “As the Father has loved me so I have loved you”—loving words of our Savior. We have people in our Church who need our help, time and love. If you can take someone on an errand (grocery store, pharmacy, etc.) or give them a ride to church, please call David Nejako at 215-767-6333. Thank you for reaching out to help members of our church family.
