March 11, 2018 The Fourth Sunday in Lent
Collect for the Fourth Sunday in Lent: Gracious Father, whose blessed Son Jesus Christ came down from heaven to be the true bread which gives life to the world: Evermore give us this bread, that he may live in us, and we in him; who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen.
Sunday School: Sunday School is held each Sunday at 10:00 am in the downstairs classroom. Sunday School is open to all children from Kindergarten to 5th grade.
Adult Discussion Group: Will not meet on Sunday, March 11th. We will complete the Jeremiah discussion on the 18th at 9:00 am. The Adult Discussion Group meets in the Chapel to discuss an examination of the life of Jeremiah. The book that will guide us will be “Run with the Horses” by Eugene H. Peterson. Feel free to join us at any time. While reading the book in advance may be beneficial, it is in no way a requirement for entering the discussion. Contact Wayne Stratz at firstname.lastname@example.org if you have any questions.
Sandwich Ministry Weekly Message:
(This message was included in each sandwich bag handed out on Friday, March 9th.)
When a major winter weather storm is brewing, we start preparing ahead of time to meet any emergencies it may bring with it. We stock extra food, be sure we have flashlights and batteries, and make sure outside items are secured. But what about the personal storms of life that unexpectedly hit us and make us feel vulnerable and helpless? The Bible calls God a rock in the time of trouble that we can cling to and a shelter or fortress in the time of storm. When we commit our lives to Jesus, we are preparing to weather any storm in the shelter of his loving arms. Join us Sunday at Holy Trinity on Sunday mornings at 10:00 am. Sunday School is available for children in grades K-5 at 10:00 am.
“The Lord is my rock, my fortress, and my deliverer, my God, my rock in whom I take refuge, my shield, and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold.” Psalm 18:2
Weekly Community Social Networking Event: Every Monday from 2:00 pm to 3:00 pm, we hold a discussion group led by David Nejako. This is open to anyone from the parish or the community who would like to join in a group to discuss different subjects. The topic for discussion on Monday, March 12th is “Women Leaders of the World”. Anyone who would like to connect with others in a discussion group setting is invited.
Broad Street Churches Lent Services: This year we are again joining with the Lansdale Methodist and First Baptist, churches both located on Broad Street, for a series of Wednesday night services during Lent. Each Wednesday evening at 7:00 pm, beginning on Wednesday, February 14th through March 21st, one of the three churches will act as the host church and one of the three churches will provide a preacher. The schedule has Holy Trinity providing a preacher on March 7th at the First Baptist Church; and we are leading the service at Holy Trinity on February 28th and March 21st with a reception following the service.
The full schedule is posted on the Parish Life bulletin board. Everyone is invited to attend any or all of these services. Each week we will list in the Herald the service information for the upcoming week:
March 14th at 7:00 pm at First Baptist Church. The preacher will be Rev. Debra Neild from Lansdale Methodist Church. The topic will be “Giving Up Our Lives”.
Caring Committee: “As the Father has loved me so I have loved you”—loving words of our Savior. We have people in our Church who need our help, time and love. If you can take someone on an errand (grocery store, pharmacy, etc.) or give them a ride to church, please call David Nejako at 215-767-6333. Thank you for reaching out to help members of our church family.
